Starter Pack:

1) Buy a bike in Chile or in Tacna, Peru (cheaper there). You can buy a second hand, good condition bike or you can also get a new one, whichever you prefer. When choosing one, make sure you have a spare tire with it and of course, the gears to protect yourself incase you have an accident.

2) Tent with a sleeping bag - You want to be comfortable at night? A tent and a sleeping bag is the key to having a good night rest.

3) A burner and butane - very essential for cooking and of course, some essentials for eating.

4) Bring enough cash - most of the towns in the South of Chile doesn't have ATM Machines so it's safe to have an ample amount of cash.

5) Don't make the weather slow you down!

Starting a biking trip is a very hard decision to make. You have to make sure that you are physically and emotionally ready. It can be hard and lonely in the road but if you are determined, you'll conquer the biggest achievement of your life - FREEDOM!
